Blog Reflection with Negatives

a. The answer of 6+(-4) would be +2. +2 is the answer because in the chip model, you started off with 6 positive chips (white) and add 4 negative chips (black). Now, you have 4 zero pairs, leaving 2 white chips (positive) as the answer.

b. The answer would be +7 because you start out with 4 positive chips and you have to take away 3 negative chips, but you don't have any, so you add 3 zero pairs. Then you cross out the 3 negatives and you are left with 7 positive chips. 

c.   When you multiply, you start with 0. You have to take away 2 groups of -4 because the negative sign means you are taking away. But you don't have 2 groups of -4, so you add 8 zero pairs (zero pairs don't change the number's value). Then you cross out 8 negatives, and you are left with +8.

d. You start out with -8 and are supposed to divide it into 4 groups. In each group there would be 2 negative chips, so the answer is -2.

Hey Insecurity, You suck. A lot. Don't play the victim here, you know you're the root cause of literally everything. Ok yeah, I will admit that you have made me realise many of my own faults, such as how overly cautious and guarded I kept/keep myself. BUT HEY you ruin everyone's life at one point. Final Piece -- Greatest Fear, Greatest Joy

Personal Feedback -- Our prompt for our final piece of this year was 'Greatest Fear, Greatest Joy', and we had to depict these two things interacting in one piece. Initially, I was thinking about drawing intangible fears, such as sensory loss or being forgotten, but this seemed too abstract and difficult to convey. So I decided to go with my tangible fear of whales. My joy stayed the same the whole brainstorming process: Comic books. I decided to use acrylics because they worked well for me during the Interim piece, I knew I'd be able to add layers quickly because of how fast the paint sets and I knew I could use this to my advantage. The thought process for my composition was very simple; As my fear of whales come from their size, I wanted to show a few whales looming over me as silhouettes, and I really love comic books, so I drew myself holding an old Batman comic close to myself.
