Science~ What moves the ocean floor and the continents?

Image
As of now, we know that Pangea broke apart because the plates (the ocean floor) was moving. Our assignment is to theorize how the ocean floor is moving using our prior knowledge. We know that there are trenches which outline the plates/ocean floor. New rocks are formed from these trenches. Age of Rocks Map  url Ocean Trench Maps  url But the new rocks can't be magically appearing out of no where. There must be something that creates the rocks, in turn moving the plates and continents. My idea is that beneath the Earth's crust (first layer), the layer of magma's movement creates volcanoes. Once the volcanoes erupt, the lava cools to form the new rock. The new rock pushes away the older rocks, moving the plates/ocean floor. This movement causes the continents to move.

Nature produced multiple types of foods to give animals (and humans) a variety of eatables, because different animals can have different preferences and tastes, and the plants need the animals to help pollinate and disperse its seeds.

Advice Letter [Health] ~ Frenemies

Image
Dear Anika, I’ve noticed that a popular group of boys who hang out near my locker have become friends with a loner boy, who isn’t cool or popular. When the loner boy is not around, the popular boys are constantly make fun of him. I overheard them saying that they only befriended him for entertainment. I know this isn’t right. I feel bad for the loner boy. What should I do? From, Abby. ------ Dear Abby, You are correct, what the popular boys are doing isn’t right. And yes, you must tell this boy being made fun of. You can do this in two simple steps: ➔ Step 1: Talk to the loner boy privately about why the other boys befriended him. You’ve have to tell, for the benefit of you and the boy. But you must sound assertive, and not like you’re tattletaling. The boy probably won’t believe you at first , then give him examples of how his ‘friends’ are talking about him and why. ➔ Step 2: Since you are a third party in this matter, you should not intervene. Instead...

Cluster 1 Reflection

What are your friendship strengths and challenges? Some of my friendship strengths would be staying loyal and being able to know what a friend needs and when they need (I call that a friendship hunch). A challenge I face is that  it's hard for me to find someone I trust to be my friend, and when I find a person I do trust, I cling onto them. Explain what you’ve learned about the movement pattern (Rotations) and concept (Tactics and Shots). I've learned that it's very important to have a good rotation motion when I'm about to swing otherwise that ball won't go where I want it to. A concept I learned is to hit the ball to where my opponent(s) aren't. What are 2 specific things you’d like to accomplish this year in PE? I want to be able to improve my stamina (specifically in running). I also want to be able to learn how to watch and control what I eat.

Compost Making a Difference (Project Compost)

Image
Project Compost was started by an intern in the  UC Davis'   campus-recycling program in the Fall of 1999. The project was started by intern named  Max Cadji, who saw that the universaty recycled everything (paper, plastic, metal, etc.) but food waste . Max helped the university start a composting system which produces healthy soil for the student's farm. Max helped decrease the amount of food waste and helped inform all the other students about composting and it's positive effect on the environment. Project Compost's goals are action and education.  Learn more here:  https://projectcompost.ucdavis.edu/

Tennis Forearm Swing Review

This is my section in the video: https://youtu.be/buWqCAz4AGQ?t=1m36s (From 1:36 to 1:46) I am facing forward position and when the ball comes, I drop my racquet back and swing to hit the ball. My wrist is not as firm as it should be though. Because of that, I end up not following through with my racquet. You can see this here: My swing is supposed to look like this: (Images from here:  https://youtu.be/UM0Tn3WLACY?t=1m25s ) I do not follow through, which leaves me in a twisted pretzel shape... Two  good things I am doing in my forearm swing are: I start in the right forward position I move one of my feet back so I can do a clean swing Two things I need to work on are: I need to make my wrist more firm when I swing  After I am able to swing with a firm wrist, I will be able to follow through on my swing correctly.
