Talking Across Texts: Slob & Impact of Bullying

In Fast Facts: Impact of Bullying, the author tells us what happens to people who get bullied while they're not being bullied and how their family and friends are being impacted about them being bullied.

My two texts, Slob and Fast Facts: Impact of Bullying, are both similar and different. Owen, the main character in Slob, gets bullied everyday but, he reacts to being bullied differently than what is said in "Impact of Bullying." Yes, Owen does get scared and sad when everyone laughs at his size, but he doesn't react to it. He feels he has better things to focus his attention on, like his huge radio wave retriever machine that he was building. He reacts to bullying differently than how "Impact of Bullying" said he should have.

In truth, I think a normal person who wasn't a super genius would have reacted to bullying just like "Impact of Bullying" said they would. Owen is a super genius, and he was very busy during the story, with dealing with his fractured friendships, his sister, his parent's murder and so on. The only time Owen actually started worrying about being bullied is during his PE class when he had to do the triathlon (that had four events...) because he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of everyone.
